Join us for a special performance by sappha and get to know one of Cincinnati's standout musicians before their return as the official pre-concert performer for the Longworth-Anderson Series' Helado Negro concert on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Memorial Hall.

Experimental pop singer-songwriter and producer sappha is a Cincinnati native. Her eclectic, sultry electronic sound has landed her on bills with artists like Ericdoa, Wes Parker, and Cupcakke supporting collaborator Devin Burgess. Dubbed “avant-pop” by Cincinnati CityBeat, her style fuses many genres with rich vocal harmonies informed by her youth in choir and the Catholic church, with much of her lyrics exploring both light and dark layers of her childhood in a religious upbringing. In her recent collaborative project, archetypes, with Eric Nally, frontman of Cincinnati rock band Foxy Shazam, she continues to push the boundaries of genre and craft her own kind of spirituality.

Shades is a live-instrument soul and alternative R&B band founded by songwriter and artist Mic. Carr. Blending thoughtful storytelling with warm, organic instrumentation, the group creates music rooted in resilience, reflection, and mature optimism. Their debut single, “Shades,” introduces the band’s message that hard times do not break us—they shape us—setting the tone for their upcoming EP of the same name.
